Shrugging off the chill.

Shrugging off the chill. So it's happened,  summer is over, the nights are drawing in and the temperature is dropping. Having finished the hectic summer season, we in the industry are getting ready to don our wellies, zip up our gillet and prepare for battle with whatever winter throws at us.

Being a B2B with an autumn/winter wedding can be magical but with so much to think about its only too easy to completely miss the most obvious aspects of your day, such as... will I freeze !!!!

It happens, you've fallen in love with your dream dress but it's strapless, backless, t-length and so thin you'll be your very own 'something blue'. So what can you do? Shrug it off.

No, seriously.

Vintage is in and shrugs are back. Looking fab can be practical and add a whole other dimension to your style, giving you two different looks on your day. Sounds good to us!

So what options are available?

winter weddings

Become a winter goddess in gorgeous soft fur (available in a small array of colours). Shrugs like these take nothing away from a dress but can add a great new neckline and keep you cosy whilst your busy posing for your own personal paparazzi of the day, leaving the big reveal until you get inside. I can see the VB pouts, now.

For B2B’s with a church wedding this one's for you, classical and covered, this bolero is just chic!

With gorgeous scalloped edging, long sleeves and soft lace, styles like this are perfect if you’re looking to make a statement.

We recommend wearing with a simple, low key dress such as the one pictured.

During dress appointments B2B’s are forever telling about the areas of their bodies they are conscious of, (you’re beautiful, ladies!!!)  Whatever makes you feel comfortable is right for you.

A short sleeved jacket like this has so much beautiful lace detail that all the attention will be taken off the bits you don’t like and onto the bits you do! Light weight designs such as these are perfect for brides of all seasons looking for that extra cover until the evening.

Or what about a cap sleeve? The simplicity of the soft lace is an absolute winner for me, not to mention the subtle embellishments scattered throughout the design, perfect if you’re after a bit of sparkle and brilliant to wear all year round.

So what style suits you and your dress the best? Are you going to brave the cold this winter or shrug off the chill?

All of the jackets featured in this blog are available to try and buy from The Wedding Room so give us a call on 0115 925 8876

The freedom of the great outdoors

If you are a b2b and searching for the perfect venue, I know that many of you are looking for a special place that has both indoor and outdoor space to entertain your guests. This current trend fits really well with the personalised touches which you are bringing to your big day.

What do you think about having your ceremony outdoors in the summer months? Many venues are now creating beautiful areas within their grounds for intimate ceremonies, some incorporating a water feature as a focal point.

For staging your reception, the ability to sit outdoors would be gorgeous - imagine on a summers evening what a celebration you'd have with friends and family!  There are so many country houses and hotels with outdoor space that you can decorate to suit your theme.

Or what about renting some farm space for your ceremony and putting up a groovy marquee? You could really go to town with the decorations....

Vintage decorations really look at home outdoors - using bunting, mismatched crockery and glasses, wild flowers, antique lace table runners ..... all complement each other in this setting.

What about also using your own back garden as your venue? This couple used the move to their new house as part of the reason to get married at home.

So I hope you consider the option of at least being outside for part of your day - it adds interest to your photos and guests love it if the weather allows!

Until next time, Katrina x
