A Barn Dance Wedding

We love the idea of having an unconventional wedding. Why not use an outdoor venue such as a farm or a barn as a great way to have a relaxed and entertaining wedding.

We've chosen some beautiful examples of interiors for your wedding. This barn shows a great way to decorate DIY style with streamers and fairy lights all across the ceiling. The barn has a naturally rustic feel to it and keeps a relaxed atmosphere for the wedding.

Another style of draping across the ceiling is to use a thick and wider fabric. This creates a completely different look to your wedding making the barn seem more glamorous with a nice added touch of chandeliers across the ceiling.

Instead of decorating the ceiling with streamers why not have fairy lights winding around trees or hanging lanterns and garlands to create a magical and sparkling interior.

Personalising your wedding is a great way to add to the rustic and DIY feeling.

Adding quirky and individual touches to your wedding decorations is perfect to bring together your barn/farm theme.

Here at the wedding room we hire out props to make your wedding as special and unique as possible such as this style birdcage in wood to arrange your seating plan.

Or props such as Mr and Mrs signs and lanterns like these.

To complete your rustic style and atmosphere with the Barn, why not have your wedding cake in keeping with this theme and have a homemade looking cake, which is relaxed and seems casual and DIY. For example, we love the look of these Victoria Sponge cakes, which no doubt taste sensational!

Don't forget to bring in some of your wedding colours with adding flowers and of course make sure the cake is exploding with berries and cream!

A Great Gatsby Wedding

This week at The Wedding Room, we are extremely excited about another one of our fabulous Eliza Jane Howell dresses arriving. This week Glenda the dress on the right below has made her debut appearance in store.

All the dresses are beautifully embellished with delicate beading and sequins and really ooze the 1920s style. We love how elegant the dresses look and are perfect to accessorize with. We have found that because they are designed using such a light fabric they are perfect for a wedding abroad!

The Eliza Jane Howell collections are defined as the 'Epitome of grown up glamour' and have been " designed for the modern day bride who would love to wear a dress that oozes the glamour, sophistication and decadence of the golden age of fashion". Gill Harvey, Head Designer and Founder of Eliza Jane Howell.

Jenny Packham is another famous designer for embellished wedding dresses. Fortunately for you our range of Eliza Jane Howell dresses are half the price but are just as beautiful!

Here are some examples of her beautiful 20s inspired wedding dresses. Although they come with a bigger price tag, Packham's designs are exquisite and she is definitely the leader and trend setter for embellished wedding dresses.

After the release of the hit film 'The Great Gatsby' in 2013 wedding dress designs were heavily influenced. With heavy embellishment and beading the style has been very popular in the wedding industry, as there is the opportunity for you to wear your wedding dress again as an exquisite evening gown.

To ensure you complete your 1920s look and style of your wedding dress, a beautiful headpiece is crucial. We found some fabulous examples to show you.

The styling of the 20s is to really incorporate crystals and feathers into your hair. Often the headpiece will come down further on to your forehead. Here at The Wedding Room we stock various headpieces. They are not quite as dramatic but are more subtle pieces to create a 20s look! Below are some examples of styles we stock! Feel free to ring us and book an appointment to try some on!

The Perfect Winter Wedding

While were currently in the busiest month for weddings, here at The Wedding Room we still love the idea of having a wintery wedding. Luckily a winter wedding can mean the cost of everything is less but the wedding can look just as beautiful.

We love a berry lip for the bride or bridesmaids. It can bring in a small amount of festivity without looking tacky and can make everyone look very glamorous.

Another important accessory to have at your wedding is a feather bolero. Here at The Wedding we stock 3 different styles made from marabou feathers. The bolero is perfect for keeping you warm in the Winter, but doesn't distract from your dress. It is a beautiful and glamorous accessory for your 'Big Day'.

The Bolero doesn't always have to be white. This photograph below shows a brown fur bolero, which looks just as beautiful and stands out perfectly against the white background of a wintery Canadian wedding.

Another option for keeping you warm is to go with a longer cloak. It sounds a bit strange but it can also look really beautiful and keeps you very warm.

We love navy as an accessory colour for your wedding day. Whether its the men's suits or the bridesmaids dresses, its a great colour for the winter without looking typically festive. Some examples are featured below on how to integrate the colour into your 'Big Day'.

Using navy as your base colour allows your flowers to be more colourful and brighter. Bringing in a small amount of festivity with reds and greens into the bouquets gives the wedding the perfect look for Christmas.

Festivity can also be brought in subtly. For example, adding red detail to your wedding cake.

Finally, we have found some beautiful and fabulous examples of how to decorate and theme your wedding.

We love the simplicity of this centre piece. It is completely wintery and glows from the candles surrounding it! It is a great way of keeping the budget down as flowers are much more costly. Below is another way to decorate your tables with a budget. Grabbing some acorns and spraying them yourself works beautifully with a wintery theme, adding a touch of silver and sparkle to your tables!
