The Pastel Wedding Dress Trend
Trend Reports and Forecasting Inspiration - WGSN Images
Initial research for this current Pastel trend in the bridal industry came from looking at future colour and inspiration trends. Also current Autumn/Winter 14/15 and Spring/Summer 14 Designer collection demonstrate how these trend predictions have come through in these collections. WGSNs reports on the use of Pink and Lilac on the catwalk provided visualisations in high fashion for this trend. Soft Shell and rouge pinks were continuous on the catwalk, in addition to the current and popular trend of pastel pink. The tones create a beautiful sense of femininity for the wearer during both the summer and winter.
Dusted Lilacs and soft amethyst tones are also being seen on the catwalk. It is a new colour for A/W 14/15 but will no doubt be as popular as the dusty pink, providing a new, exciting and bright colour to wear.
Nudes and neutral pink tones are extremely popular on the runway this Spring/ Summer 14. With a mixture of light fabrics and beautiful detailed embroidery, these elements are clearly being transferred on to this seasons bridal gowns.
Global Trends and visual inspiration illustrate the textures, fabrics and colour palettes that will be continued through to 2016. The Pastel colours and trend will continue to grow and 'Transcend' with this trend featured below. Neutral tones with a sense of freedom and experimentation can be seen. Alongside loose and over laid techniques. Images found on WGSN.

Haute Couture Catwalk Inspiration
Designer Elie Saab's Haute Couture collection this Spring/ Summer 2014 demonstrates these beautiful and memorizing pastel tones. With intricate detailing, the colours neither overwhelm or ruin the aesthetic of the dresses, but work to compliment the silhouette and emphasis the elaborate and sensational embroidery detailing. Clearly ivory is not always needed for a bride to look beautiful!
Couture Bridal Designers - Vera Wang
Vera Wang's White collection clearly illustrates this growing pastel trend across the bridal industry. With the collection being at a slightly lower price point than her normal dresses, this leaves no excuses for why everyone can't have a pastel wedding dress this year! With beautiful bow and flower detailing on the dresses, they offer a classic style with a beautiful amount of femininity.

A recent article in Hello Magazine continues to visualize and introduce new designers that are using the pastel trend in their collections. The article on ' Wedding dress trend: blush pink and subtle coloured gowns' March 10th 2014 introduces a new London Based Wedding Dress designer Naomi Neoh.
The London-based designer has seen her blush gowns outsell her traditional ivory pieces by almost two to one. Naomi Neoh stated, "It's all about getting the right dress for you and ivory is not always the most flattering colour on all skin tones," said Naomi. "Hues of blush pink and apricot can lift the complexion and enhance most skin colours. Blush pink has always been a signature in my designs and popular with brides looking for something a little different."
The Pastel Trend is competing well with more traditional Ivory and White colours and its popularity is rising with customers that are finding the colours increase their look of femininity on ' The Big Day'.
